plays India Jourdain on "Jane by Design." ABC FAMILY PHOTO“Jane By Design” co-star and former “One Tree Hill” actress India de Beaufort joined other actors and musicians Saturday night in Hollywood celebrating true beauty. She was among the special guests at the first anniversary party of Team True Beauty, a nonprofit promoting positive self-esteem and self-worth in men and women of all ages. She played tough music executive Miranda Stone during “One Tree Hill’s” sixth season and just started a run as antagonistic fashion designer India Jourdain on the ABC Family series “Jane by Design.”Before the Team True Beauty event, I spoke with her about the organization, her time in Wilmington filming “One Tree Hill,” and her new villainous turn on “Jane.”What were your impressions of Wilmington during your nine months there filming “One Tree Hill”?I have very fond memories. The ocean there is the warmest I’ve ever been in. The first time I ever went down to the beach I was fully clothed. And I stepped in and I just kept walking because I was so shocked about how nice it was. Kilwin’s — gotta love that. I went for the toffee flavored popcorn. That was my thing. I used to just sit in my hotel room (at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside) and down bags of it.How did you get involved with Team True Beauty?Through Twitter. I’m a big supporter. I really believe that women should learn to love themselves as they are. I (also) love that they support me and support “One Tree Hill.”When you were growing up, who helped shape your ideas of beauty? My mom was a big influence. My mom was a single mother of two. She used to be a dancer and she was very glamorous, very well dressed. She taught me a lot about how to do my hair and how to do my nails and how to pesent myself. She had a best friend named Bonnie Briggs who was a stylist. She had an amazing closet. And I remember as a toddler going and trying on Vivienne Westwood gowns and trying to put my feet in her shoes. She definitely had a big influence on the vintage side of me.You joined the One Tree Hill cast in season 7. What was it like stepping into an established show?I originally auditioned for the part of Alex. I wasn’t right for the role, and then I got a phone call from (show creator) Mark (Schwahn) a week or so later. They had written a part for me. I read it and I said, ‘that sounds like a lot of fun.’ … It’s the kind of cast that wants to get to know people and include you. They always made an effort and I really appreciated that. At first you join the show and no one knows if your staying and then your sticking around, and then the next thing you know you’re at the wrap party at the end of the season. It was a really nice journey.Your character romanced a bartender played by musician Michael Grubbs. What were some of your favorite memories working on the show?(Working with) Grubbs, in general, were some of my favorite memories of filming. We’re still really good friends now. He and I had so much fun hanging out and playing computer games at the Soapbox. He’s really good friends with my boyfriend so we all hung out together. We all had lunch together when we saw him last. What’s your experience on “Jane by Design” been like? It’s different and similar to “One Tree Hill.” I play a similar character. I still play the villain. Why are you always the villain?I don’t know! You can’t even say its the English accent because I am American on “Jane by Design.” And unlike “One Tree Hill,” I don’t really soften throughout the season. You see some signs of vulnerability but she stays pretty manipulative until the end. The show itself is a ton of fun. We get to wear Jimmy Choo. We had a $25,000 Birkin bag on the set one day. It’s great to be on a show that is so fashion driven.View the original article here
